Why We Need More Homes

The housing challenge facing Mole Valley

The Housing Challenge in Mole Valley

Many people will have children or grandchildren who simply cannot afford to live locally. With average house prices in Mole Valley now exceeding £540,000, a generation is being priced out of the communities where they grew up.

Mole Valley is one of the most constrained districts in England, with 68% of its land designated as Green Belt. While this protection is valued, it means the Council has extremely limited options for delivering the homes local people need.

The adopted Local Plan, identified this site as one of the few suitable locations where housing can be delivered alongside the infrastructure and community facilities that Hookwood needs.

Until we build more homes, including affordable homes, local families will continue to be forced to move away.
